Archives For Present

Christmas in March

Christmas presents4First, Let’s see who won yesterday’s trivia question. The question was: “Bottomless Lakes State Park, east of Roswell, was New Mexico’s first what?” The correct answer was D – State Park. Congratulations to the winners:

Now allow me to ask a question of you: What present does your family, or your work/business, or do you really need this year from you?

Be careful, and not too quick, how you answer. Take a moment and think about that. What is really needed from you this year?

I know you’ve heard it many times before, but no one on their death bed ever said, “Gee, if I’d only spent more time at the office!” Now it’s important that you show up and do whatever it is you do each day. As I’ve said before – we need your creativity, your passion, along with your input. Those ideas just straining to get out of your head are desperately needed today.

So go on and go to the office. Go ahead and do what you do so well, but take the time to think about what is truly needed of you. What can you do that only you can do? Ah, that’s a slightly different question, but an important one nonetheless.

You’ve got a few months to come up with an answer and to implement what your idea. What does your family need from you this year? What do the organizations that you volunteer with need from you? What do you need from you this year?

Share your ideas below. Someone else might just need to hear from another to spur them on to coming up with their own answer.

urgentI know you’ll find this hard to believe, but we have grandchildren! See, I knew you’d find that difficult to swallow.

Not that difficult, you say?

Any way, our children, grown as they are, and grandchildren live states away from us. Some just in a neighboring state, others a few states away, and some live on the other side of the country away from us. Suffice it to say that none are even in the same time zone as us!

And though that may not seem like much to you, dear reader, there are times when it feels as though they are a million miles away. Do you know what I mean? And we just received word that some of them are moving to an even more remote location (sometimes I wonder if they are in the witness protection program – just saying).

I know this is just logic, but I need to remind you (and me). Every day that goes by turns into a month that goes by and every month that goes by becomes a year that has passed all too quickly.

Stay in contact with your co-workers, even if they don’t reciprocate. Stay in contact with corporate, even if they don’t like it. And by all means stay in touch with those you love, even if they don’t repay that love.

In that famous chapter about love from Paul’s letter to the Corinthians we find these words: Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” (1 Corinthians 13:4 NLT)

Allow love to work through you in that way. I know it’s hard to do, but do it anyway. In fact, stop reading this post and jot a note to someone right now. Go! Do it, now! The band Foreigner said it correctly: “Urgent, it’s so urgent!”

You’ll be glad you did . . .so will they!
