The Same Power

power2Here’s something to think about on this Thanksgiving Eve: “The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.” (Romans 8:11 NLT)

For those who read and/or follow this simple blog, who have put their faith and trust in the God who created them and have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, know that Paul wrote those words above to the church in Rome – but they still are true today.

You can know that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead live in you! That means, my friend, that you are one powerful dude or dudette!

So why do we go through life, day-by-day as if we are defeated and distraught?

Read that verse again.

Allow it to sink in for a moment.

Read it every day, if it will help. Post it on your bathroom mirror, on your fridge, in your car, at your work.

And then, once you actually believe that what Paul wrote is true for you, begin acting that way. No, don’t become arrogant. Don’t become abusive. For with power like this comes great responsibility.

So here’s my gift to you on this Thanksgiving Eve, Jeremy Camp’s song by the same name. Watch the video, then begin singing along, then begin believing that it’s actually true.

What can you do today to begin living as though you believe this?

I Have the Power!

October 21, 2015 — Leave a comment

powerWe humans are notorious for running around thinking that we are so in control of our destiny. Now granted, we do have a say in what happens to us. In fact, if you’ve followed this blog for very long at all, you’ll know that we are big fans of creating your own future.

But we have to understand that all of that power comes with a price AND we need to maintain a proper perspective at the same time.

With power comes responsibility – we’ve said that before – many times! So understand that and use it wisely.

And we must understand that no power becomes ours that we have not been given. The reader gives the author their power, the listener gives the recording artist their power, the user gives the coder their power, etc. etc.

It works both up the scale to the top seats in companies and governments as well as down the scale to each and every worker bee that works.

So the next time you think you’ve got the power, just remember where it came from and what you’re to do with that power. It’s both a sobering and humbling thought.

Just saying.
