Jesus LightCheck out these words from the famous philosopher, Rene Descartes.

“Whenever anyone has offended me, I try to raise my soul so high that the offense cannot reach it.”Rene Descartes 1596-1650, Philosopher and Scientist

Could you “raise your soul so high” that the offenses thrown at you could not reach you? What would that look like for you?

Begin this week determined not to allow offenders to get the best of you – not y getting even or thinking about revenge, but by doing those things that will set your soul to flight!

What, Me Sacrifice?

Future carWe’ve known for some time now, that most things we really value in life take time to bring to fruition. The problem is that we tend to focus on short-term, quick solutions to large scale issues.

Check out this morning’s quote below.

“The future belongs to those who are willing to make short-term sacrifices for long-term gains.”Fred A. Manske, Sr.

So be honest, are you willing to “make short-term sacrifices for long-term gains”? If so, welcome to your future.

Are You A Friend?

October 26, 2015 — Leave a comment

friendsI’ve always loved this advice from Zig. It’s very simple and concise, but so hard to actually put into practice.

“If you go out in life looking for friends, they’ll be scarce, but if you go to be a friend you’ll find them everywhere.” – Zig Ziglar

So as you start yet another week, go out looking to be a friend rather than looking for friends. You’ll be surprised as to how many you’ll truly find.

Go be a friend to someone today!

How’s Your Vision?

October 19, 2015 — Leave a comment

Betty SmithYou’ve hear that some people look at a glass that is half-filled and see it as half-empty; while others look at the same glass and see it as half-full.

Here’s another take on sharpening your vision this week:

“Look at everything as though you were seeing it either for the first or last time. Then your time on earth will be filled with glory.” – Betty Smith 1896-1972, Novelist

Thomas Edison“There is no expedient to which a man will not go to avoid the real labor of thinking.” – Thomas A. Edison

Someone once said (possibly my parents a long, long time ago): “Why don’t you think for a change?” Most likely because I had just done something they were not all that fond of.

But what if we changed the emphasis? The same phrase could take on a whole different meaning. If we desire real change to occur, why don’t we think for a change? I believe Mr. Edison was so right – I’ve observed many who act first and then think later. Haven’t you?

So as we begin a new week, why don’t we all strive to not fall into that trap and become another statistic.

Feeling Kinda Ordinary?

Sir Edmund Hillary“You don’t have to be a fantastic hero to do certain things; to compete. You can be just an ordinary person, sufficiently motivated to reach challenging goals. The intense effort, the giving of everything you’ve got, is a very pleasant bonus.” – Sir Edmund Hillary, Mountaineer

As you begin another week in your life, which of your goals can you accomplish this week? How about today? Maybe even this morning?

Now go and do it!

The Human Spirit

September 21, 2015 — Leave a comment

Ben Stein2Did you know that the spirit within you resonates with God himself?

Check this out: “Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.”(Genesis 2:7 NLT) We have the very breath of God within us!

“It is inevitable that some defeat will enter even the most victorious life. The human spirit is never finished when it is defeated… it is finished when it surrenders.” – Ben Stein, Professor and Writer

As you begin another week, whatever you are facing this week, take heart knowing that you are only finished when you surrender.

Ever Made a Mistake?

September 14, 2015 — Leave a comment

Phyllis BottomeHow did it affect you? Did it put you on the mat for the count?

“When you make a mistake, don’t look back at it long. Take the reason of the thing into your mind, and then look forward. Mistakes are lessons of wisdom. The past cannot be changed. The future is yet in your power.” – Phyllis Bottome 1884-1963, Writer

What can you learn from your most recent mistake?

Start the week not by avoiding mistakes, but by learning from them and moving forward.

Gail DeversWhat dreams have you allowed to slip into mediocrity?

“Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe.” ~ Gail Devers
