Your Future Depends On This

thanksRecently I’ve visited with some whose perception is that for some reason life, or God, or fate has cut them a raw deal and they are where they are in life because of their “unfair circumstances.” As we talked you could hear the negative tone in nearly everything they had to say. Though they possess a strong belief in God and hold their faith in high regard, they also hold to the notion that somehow they’ve been cheated in nearly every aspect of their lives to this point.

And I’ve also visited with others who came from less than favorable circumstances and are now people you would admire and want to have as your friends. When talking with them you hear their negative back-story yet they have not allowed that to determine who they’ve become.

Many are not the rich and famous, nor do they have the desire to become such, though some I’ve encountered are multi-millionaires and more. They have simply learned to be content with what they have and to not allow their past to dictate their future. They have taken what God has given them and turned it into an offering of Thanksgiving to Him, though they might not express it that way.

Today, in the U.S., is Thanksgiving Day. Be thankful for what you have – however little it may be. You don’t have to look too far to find someone who has less. But also don’t just settle there.

No matter who you are, where you live, what your circumstances currently are know this – God created you to be a wonderful/fantastic/beautiful creation. He’s given you the tools you need to become what He desired you to be.

I know you’ve heard this before, but hear it again as if it’s the first time. Today really is the first day of the rest of your life – don’t waste God’s creation: YOU!

Your future depends on how you handle what God has given you. He’s The Creator, think creatively on how to be better tomorrow than you are today, better next month than you are this month, better next year than you are this year.

Now, go out and do something great for God. We all need you to do just that!

Happy Thanksgiving, people!
