We recently were able to catch the new Star Trek movie in the newest theater in our town. Though it’s been open nearly a year, this was our first time in the new place. We enjoyed our experience!
I was pleasantly surprised by the handling of the material in the new movie, with the younger characters they were able to pull off a pre-quel of sorts that actually worked. Familiar characters (if you’re a Trek fan) were woven through the entire script. And some actually favored their former counterparts.
I know yesterday was Memorial Day for us in the U.S., but I’d like us to remember again today those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice – not in a movie, but in reality with their own lives. Some lost brothers, some lost sisters. Some lost parents, others lost children. Many of us lost friends.
May we always remember the price paid for our freedoms that we enjoy. And in the same way remember the One who willingly gave of himself so that we might be free for all eternity.
So take another day, on me, and remember.
For all those who have served and from all of us who have served. Thanks.
